Thermal and acoustic insulation projects for nautical environments
TSM Termoacoustic specialises in the design and realisation of thermal and acoustic insulation systems for the recreational marine sector and also for large shipbuilding.
Thermal insulation for the nautical sector includes the design and realisation of thermal and acoustic insulation systems on walls, planking, ceilings, exhaust gases, etc., including the application of damping and anti-condensation treatments; application of electro-welded harpoons; insulation of water and air conditioning pipes; and the realisation of finishing sheets.
Below you will find a detailed list of some of these interventions
Damping treatment: Application of metal plates of the size and material indicated in the damping treatment plan to all surfaces for which the treatment is required. The surface must be sanded, primer applied, after which the plates are ready to be fixed with the two components (A and B), which must be mixed.
The area covered by the plates must be no less than 90 per cent of the treated surface.
Harpooning: Application of electro-welded harpoons in all areas where insulation is to be provided according to the insulation plan. The harpoons will be positioned no more than 500 mm apart. In the case of surfaces where damping treatment is planned, the harpoons will be applied in such a way that they do not interfere with the plates.
Anti-condensation: Application of the anti-condensation treatment by spraying material such as Mascoat DTM in the areas indicated in the anti-condensation treatment plan. Before applying the product, a film covering will be applied to the various installations, such as pipes, ducts, windows, so that activities can proceed without damaging these surfaces.
Pipe insulation: Insulation of all hot water and air-conditioning pipes with material such as: armaflex NH, glued with special glue and finished with special joint-covering tape, for the specified quantity.
Ombrinals: to be made with an additional layer of material such as Mapflex or Armaflex.
Finishing laminations: Fabrication of finishing laminations in the engine room, ventilation trunks, technical rooms and in general in all the areas envisaged in the insulation plan. The frame will be anchored on electrowelded Nelson-type harpoons and will consist of horizontal and vertical omega battens. The finishing sheeting will be made of material such as: 3 mm thick Dibond RAL 9010. Inspection hatches will be provided where necessary.
Insulation: Implementation of the insulation in all areas specified in the insulation plan with the application of the materials intended (with the correct layering) in the insulation detail. In the fire zones indicated in the structural fire plan, the insulation will have a lap of approx. 450 mm in all adjacent zones. All pipes, cable routes, ducts, etc. that will pass through fire zones will be insulated for 450 mm (both sides) with rock wool with an aluminium finish and bonded with wire. The insulation on bulkheads, fascias, ceilings etc will be secured with washers to be applied to each harpoon at the end of the planned layering. Where foreseen, the finishing of the insulation will be in aluminium and taped in a workmanlike manner with aluminised tape on all joints. Where foreseen (e.g. technical rooms and ventilation trunks) the finish of the insulation will be in glass cloth and professionally taped with glass cloth tape on all joints.
The insulation of the floating floor boards (as indicated in the insulation plan) will be carried out with rock wool and Mapflex, with a glass cloth finish finished as above;
For the wood/ceiling, wood/wall, floor/wall and floor/wall infills, rock wool with a glass cloth finish finished as above will be used.
